The Women's Committee of Brooklyn Young Democrats is partnering with the WIN.NYC Women of Color Network for this event.
According to the CDC, street harassment is the most prevalent form of gender-based violence for both men and women in the United States. From Hey baby, to groping, public masturbation, and assault, this workshop will discuss where street harassment comes from and what you can do to end it. Participants will learn about efforts to prevent street harassment here in New York City and abroad, including the growing Ive Got Your Back movement which teaches people how to safely respond when they see street harassment happening. It doesnt take superhero spandex, or swooping down to beat everyone up, to make street harassment stop. Participants will walk away with concrete strategies and a commitment to safely intervening the next time they see street harassment happening.
Men are encouraged to attend as fully fledged participants!
Afterwards, BYD and WIN.NYC will host a discussion on what action steps we can take politically.
